We enjoyed listening to General Conference yesterday. Jay and Nikki played Conference Bingo etc. We were able to listen to all four sessions on the internet. About 40 minutes after the last session, a very strong earthquake started. It was exciting for about 20 seconds and we were smiling and thinking "Whoa!" but then it persisted and got a little stronger and we started thinking "UH OH" and called for the kids to gather in the hallway. We've determined that it's the safest place because it has no falling objects, no windows, plenty of vertical supports because of all the doors, and it's nearest to several exits. It was a 7.2 at the epicenter 38 miles away. The grocery stores shook many items off of their shelves. People at the County Fair were heard on the news saying there was a lot of screaming and running. Can you imagine being on a ride at the time?
We walked around the house to assess damages and found none. Although, I noticed today that my sprinklers aren't working very well. I wonder if we broke a line somewhere. So we are of course, reevaluating our family food storage, emergency preparedness, and disaster drills.
