"Prepare Every Needful Thing"

For 2013, we chose the scripture in D&C 88:119 as our annual theme: "Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God; That your incomings may be in the name of the Lord; that your outgoings may be in the name of the Lord..."

What does it take to build such a house?! We're going to work hard to find out this year.

June - The First Month of Summer

As soon as school ended, our family had one week to relax at home and prepare for our long trip.  During the second week, we drove Jonny to the Phoenix airport where he departed for Alaska.  The rest of us stayed that week with Emily and Christian's family so that we could finish preparations for the Crandall Family Reunion.  We assembled PVC pipe marshmallow guns and bows and arrows, swam in their neighborhood pool, swam at Kevin and Lori's house, dined with Jenn and her children, BBQ'd with cousin Anitra and kids, made homemade pinatas, wrapped flower pens for reunion centerpieces, danced to the Wii, and planned reunion details and then planned some more reunion details.

Front to Back:  Aaron Hughes, Britton Clark, Emma Crandall, Melody Hughes and Jay Clark, and Nikki Clark swimming in the Johnson Ranch Pool.

When Jonny returned from Alaska towards the end of the week, we drove to Tucson for Savanna Oliver's 8th birthday party and to visit with Laurel and Bill's family.  (Despite being 8.5 months pregnant, Laurel joined us dancing to the Wii Just Dance game.)  We were sad that she couldn't join us at the actual reunion.  We joked about how obliging it would be if she would have her baby by the following weekend so that we could see him on our return trip to Yuma through Tucson.  Laurel DID oblige us and little Liam was born Sunday morning just hours before we drove through Tucson again on the following weekend.  We purchased Laurel's black Ford Ranger truck and caravanned home to Yuma.

Savanna's very awesome birthday cake made by Bill's mother.  It tasted phenomenal.
