February

It's a good thing that I take pictures all the time with my phone.  Between pictures and my Google calendar to jog my memory, I'm able to piece together the details of our active lives.  The activities this month were soccer x 2 boys, Scout-o-Rama, Pack activities, and 4H preparation for Fair.

Scout-o-Rama fell on the first weekend of February.  I made a quick appearance as Pack Committee Chair to make sure they had a handle on everything and then left my camera in the hands of Jay &  Nikki while I ran the other kids to soccer games and a birthday party.  Jonny was either out of town or working and it was just one of those days full of activities that nobody wanted to miss.

The Cub Scouts brought "feats of skill" activities like tug o' war and stilts for walking.  Jay is the boy with the red neckerchief.

February was only a couple months away from Fair time. Nikki and her friend Aubrie Martinez-Rivera had practice sessions with the judges known as Pre-Fair.



We sure love our wagon!  It hauls around everything from kids, beach equipment, church activities, and livestock.

February was also the start of our concrete project.  We poured a new courtyard slab, a new courtyard wall, 2 driveway slabs, and sidewalks in the backyard.  There were plenty of obstacles that came up in the project and it went over budget.  We were sure glad to see it completed.  Actually as of September, we still have not finished painting gates or putting up the car port but the courtyard wall has been such a wonderful addition.  It is very rare now that our dog escapes.  We also no longer have elementary kids cutting through our yard and things don't disappear off our front patio anymore.

To wrap up the busy month, I was driving down a residential street and another driver who wasn't paying attention turned into my front fender of my van.  It was my first accident.  It crumpled the fender so that it was rubbing against the tire but fortunately Steve Taylor was available to come over and pull it out with a crow bar.  Jonny was out of town or working late that day also.  The van eventually went into the repair shop for a week while we drove a rental mini-van.  It was a new Chrysler Town and Country with all the bells and whistles including leather seats and DVD player.  We enjoyed it for the week but the space was cramped and we were glad to have our van back. 

Although Jonny was absent from our day to day activities quite a bit in February, we are very grateful that he is such a wonderful provider and we appreciate his dedication!  He's willing to work hard for us and we are also capable and willing to work hard at home.
