Jonny took a week off from work because nobody at YPG wanted to work anyway. Instead of hanging out at the office, Jonny opted just to come home and spend time with family. We had a wonderful holiday together. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Dinner with the Jacobsons. Jay and Britton started on their Pinewood Derby cars for the upcoming race end of January. There were a couple of 4-H meetings and soccer practices.
We made a very short, quick trip up to Mesa to visit with Eva and Clayton then returned home for New Years Eve. As a family on New Years Eve, we went bowling with friends and had a great time. The bowling alley played all of the music of Jonny's and my generation which made us feel young and hip again. Add cool disco lights and voila! Britton danced like a robot while his friend, Cole, showed off some break-dancing moves. Josh kept kicking the ball down the lane since we're all in soccer mode. When we returned home, we played Hedbanz and Domino Train, watched a movie and ate a smorgasbord of snack food. At midnight, we heard the fireworks and then headed to bed.
The most exciting part of New Years Day for me was rearranging furniture into yet a new configuration that will supposedly cure many of my housekeeping and routine woes. This arrangement also allowed room for another dining room table. (We found Christmas morning that we just didn't have enough room for food and people at the same table any longer.) I was offered a beautiful family heirloom table with extra extensions and jumped at the offer.
Already I love the new arrangement because it has freed up my couch for sitting and provided a space for folded clothes to sit neatly until children put them away. It also makes my large living room actually look large instead of being divided in the middle by our couch. There are now fewer wasted spaces and fewer places to hide trash. We found a gold mine under our couch which is one of the reasons that I love moving furniture annually at least. (Poor Jonny.) He kept measuring and predicting or pre-dooming my plans until I finally started moving things (without a real plan) and saying,"It'll work out fine...let's just move the couch and we'll figure the rest out later." Fortunately it worked out; I would have hated to expend all that energy cleaning and moving just to move it all back.
The holiday passed so quickly. Tomorrow is our last day before the kids return to school.

Do we get to see a picture of the new living room arrangement? I loved your description of FHE with the role playing. That is a good one to act out.
